izland discusses letting out emotion through music with ayley.

When did you start making music?

I started making music about 10 years ago, but it took me a long time to master melodies and rhythms. All in all, I've been making 'proper', good music for the past two years only!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’m listening to an absolute mixture of genres and artists from old school music like Norman Connors, Smokey Robinson to recent favourites launch as Ama Lou, Rina Sawayama, and Caroline Polachek! These last three ladies truly inspire me!

What makes you make music?

I get inspired mostly when I’m feeling down or sad. I think for me it’s a way to let those emotions out, kind of like a diary. The lyrics and melody always come at the same time and when the song is done I feel free from all that negative past and all those weighting feelings.

What are you most proud of so far in your journey?

So far, I feel I have not achieved anything valuable - but I’m proud that I’m making music consistently and I stopped fearing to share my music with people.

A lot is going on in the world right now, what is your next step from here?

My next step is to put out the EP, which I’m recording now. It’s due at the end of September/beginning of October. And afterward, hopefully, artists are going to be able to perform again, so I’m just gonna grab every opportunity that I would have on my way.
