When did you start making music?

​

I started making music when I was around 15 years old when I picked up my first guitar. But it took about ten years of battling in an up-and-down, love-and-hate kind of relationship with music until I finally started believing in my dream of making this more than just a late-night hobby.

 

 

 Who are you listening to at the moment?

 

I can’t get enough of Jacob Banks, the man is my musical icon and inspiration, even though it might not come through sound-wise. I’m also currently binging Allan Rayman’s “13”, but anything by Two Another, Opia, Anderson .Paak or KALEO are also on repeat. I am very much a believer in listening to and being inspired by everything that’s out there, so I guess that naturally makes my taste pretty eclectic. There is so much greatness in all kinds of music - just like it’s the case with people! - so I couldn’t possibly turn something away completely.

 

 

What makes you make music?

 

The pure joy of feeling passionate in the musical moment. It’s been the most amazing revelation to me how much I enjoy every aspect of music, so my motivation lies in the very process. Not just in performing, but also in the writing, in the being stuck when a song goes to shit, in the despairing when the sounds just do not want to come together as you envision it, in the moment when everything unravels and all of a sudden you have created what you wanted! I just love it all, it makes me incredibly happy and I am so thankful to have found such a calling. Performing in front of people and sharing my creativity and message with people is an added bonus that sometimes makes me pinch myself wondering if it’s all really true and not just a dream.

 

 

A lot is going on in the world right now, what is your next step from here?

 

I have just released my first single, and in a few days the video clip will come out. I am trying to build a fanbase all over the world so that I can tell my story to people all across the globe. I really believe that we will eventually be back at concerts, shoulder to shoulder, so to make sure that I will be able to grace the stages of the world I have to work hard in the meantime and make sure that the people out there know who Jack Zhoul is and that they should listen to his music!

 

 

What are you most proud of so far in your journey?

 

Having created my first EP and coming out a better musician and human being on the other side. In terms of output, I’m most proud of being able to give the world “Dreams” as my first song. I see and feel the song as an anthem of hope for us all in a time where nothing seems to be predictable and reliable anymore, where we battle so many battles on so many fronts. The song is a testament to our inner strength and courage which allow us to get back to our feet when we are broken down repeatedly. To give the strong, resilient, and courageous people of this world a song and message of hope to hang on to I want to add my share to a better tomorrow.
